Celebrity Spotting at Ivy By the Shore

We told you what a hot spot for celebrity spotting the Ivy in the West Hollywood, Beverly Hills area is.  Well they have another restaurant out in Santa Monica that also packs a fair number of A-List celebrities.

Truth is, Ivy By The Shore should draw at least as many celebrities as its Beverly Hills counterpart, but it lacks the rather permanent paparazzi station that the Ivy Beverly Hills has across the street.  It was a rather interesting thing I learned when I became more involved with the Hollywood crowd.  Paparazzi’s don’t chase celebrities as much as celebrities chase paparazzi.  They need to keep people talking about them or risk slipping into obscurity.  Granted, I’m sure there are times they want their privacy too… such as most would probably rather not have a telephoto lens sticking through the bushes into their back yards… but there are places celebrities go simply because they want to be seen and photographed.

Ivy By The Shore is near the Santa Monica Pier at 1541 Ocean Ave.  While it is not quite as much as a celebrity hot spot as The Ivy in West Hollywood, some big name celebrities have been spotted there including Danny DeVito, Sean Penn and Peter Fonda.

Beware, they are not known for cheap food.  You might want to ask to peak at the menu before going in…
