These photos were taken on June 4, 2020, a few days after the Black Lives Matter protests happened in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles.

I actually found myself in the middle of this protest by chance.  I was driving down La Cienega when I became surrounded by protesters.  They were peaceful there and so I parked my car and got out and joined in.

As I walked down Third Street toward the Farmer’s Market over on Fairfax I could see smoke billowing up into the air.  By the time I got that far the smoke was gone.  I was told by others that it was from burning police cars.   This seemed typical of most of the protests.  Most of the protesters wanted a peaceful demonstration. But there would be agitators in the crowd and core areas would get destructive.

I didn’t go all the way to the Farmer’s Market, it was getting a little too intense.  As I worked my way back to my car I notice most of the businesses along Third were covered with graffiti, but no looting there.  (more photos at bottom of post)

I came back by a couple days later and saw the National Guard stationed in the Original Farmer’s Market.  I’ve also seen them stationed in Hollywood, Long Beach, Santa Monica and Rodeo Drive.  I’ll post more photos as I can get to them.

More photos after the break…
