Hollywood: Artist’s Corner Gallery

Artists Corner Gallery, AKA AC Gallery is a different force on the Los Angeles art scene.  Originally located on Santa Monica Boulevard where Hollywood becomes West Hollywood, its gallery openings are anything but typical.  It recently moved to a new location at 1546 Highland Ave.

Some of my own art is represented by the gallery, including the fine art box set entitled “CROSS” pictured on the display above.  We also find works by Herb Ritz, Andy Warhol, Mario Testino and Ellen von Unwerth represented by the gallery.

In addition to the blue chip artists, the gallery is constantly on the alert for important art works by artists of lesser fame.

The first opening I attended at the gallery was when they were still on Santa Monica Blvd during the Month of Photography LA (MOPLA).  The gallery took over the neighboring spaces for exhibits, and the parking lot between them had several bars, serving the traditional drinks, and those serving some amazing energy drinks.

In one corner of the gallery a live nude body painting exhibit was going on, while in the window of another section, live models posed as mannequins.  Many of the guests could not resist joining in and posing with them.

In short, the gallery’s opening nights are far from the “stuffy” affairs of the more traditional art galleries.  Not to knock the other galleries, just when you go to an opening at AC Gallery, expect a more lively affair.

These photos were taken shortly after the gallery arrived in it’s new location.
