Ice Skating at Pershing Square in DTLA

It may never snow in Los Angeles, but you can go ice skating in DTLA.  Each year Pershing Square installs an ice skating rink for about two months. This year the rink is open from November 14, 2019 through January 20, 2020.  The rink is also open on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.  What’s more fun than heading out with the family or friends on Christmas for some ice skating!

If you have never been ice skating, don’t worry.  From what we saw at least half of the skaters on the rink were out for their first time.  And while they spent a lot of time hugging the rail on the side, they were all having fun!

Skating sessions last 60 minutes.  Between each session the ice in the rink is ground down and polished for the next batch of skaters. Hours and times vary by day.  We don’t have the exact house for the 2019 – 2020 ice skating yet, but plan on the rink being open from about 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM with earlier closing on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day.  Also closing will most likely be earlier Sunday through Thursday after January 1.

You can get to the ice skating rink in Pershing Square by either car or Metro.  Parking is available under Pershing Square or any of the neighboring lots.  It is actually fairly easy to find parking around the rink.  Or take the Metro Red or Purple line to the Pershing Square Station.
