LA Restaurants: Father’s Office in the Helm’s Bakery District

Father’s Office is the acclaimed gastropub by chef Sang Yoon, the chef behind Lukshon, No. 3 on Jonathan Gold’s 101 Best Restaurants list, and the home of the acclaimed ‘Office Burger’.
The Office Burger is a no-substitutions-allowed concoction of dry-aged beef, caramelized onion, applewood bacon, Gruyere and Maytag blue cheese, and arugula.
I’ve eaten it and can vouch for why people line up to get it. (This place can be quite packed during peak dining hours.)
The location I have dined at is in Culver City at the Helm’s Bakery District. There is also one in Santa Monica and one scheduled to open downtown in the Arts District soon.
At the Helm’s Bakery you’ll find fairly easy parking, very upscale surroundings, a cool fountain, sidewalk dining and a welcoming interior with rich wood tones.
The Father’s Office food is rooted in the rich bar culture of Europe, employing the freshest ingredients available in Southern California, It also has a robust beverage program, featuring a seasonally rotating selection of 36 craft beers on tap, along with esoteric small producer wines, micro distilled spirits and classic cocktails.

Their website will leave you thinking you have reached an office supply store and not a trendy restaurant. And it will leave you wondering just what is on the menu. Trust me on this one. Just go. You will love the food, atmosphere and location.
