Park at Marina Del Rey

If you want an afternoon of pure peace and quiet, in beautiful surroundings on the waterfront, then head on out to Burton Chace Park in Marina Del Rey.  It might even be the most peaceful place in LA.It is in our opinion the most beautiful and peaceful park in Los Angeles.

Pathways at Burton Chace Park

Burton Chace Park is 10 acres of lush lawn and trees extending out into the Marina’s main channel.  You are surrounded on three sides by the bay with views of sailboats, yachts, sea lions basking in the sun and the Pacific Ocean extending into the horizon where it meets the sky.

Paths work their way around the park with benches overlooking the marina. And there are plenty of built-in barbecue grills and picnic tables.  If you are feeling “land-locked” the Marina del Rey water bus offers rides around the Marina for only a dollar.

The park hosts a number of events throughout the year in including a series of free summertime concerts. The free outdoor summer concerts run from July through September on Thursday and Saturday nights.

See the Burton Chace park events calendar for a full listing of events.  There are major events each month.  Two particularly significant ones are the Marina del Rey 4th of July Fireworks Show and in December snow is manufactured for the kids and there is the Marina del Rey Holiday Magic Boat Parade.

There is limited metered parking on the park grounds at a cost of 25 cents for each 10 minutes (I noticed when I was there that this parking is free Mon – Fri during normal working hours but you have to pay on evenings and weekends). There are also three large LA County parking lots on Mindanao Way towards the entrance to Burton W. Chace Park. These official parking facilities are marked as LA County Parking Lots #4, #5, and #77. Fees for these lots are around $8 – $10.

Burton W. Chace Park is located at 13650 Mindanao Way in Marina del Rey
