Silent Night: The Beauty of Christmas in Los Angeles 2020

2020 has been a very difficult year to say the least. And with California Governor Newsom’s order to shutdown the state – once again – just in time for the holiday season it hasn’t looked a lot like Christmas in Los Angeles.

We looked past the shuttered shops and through the deserted streets and found the places in LA that still went all out with the Holiday Decorations and compiled them into the video above. We set it to a beautiful jazz rendition of E’s Jammy Jam’s “Silent Night” so I guess you could call it a Christmas Music Video.

It features the lights on the bridges in the Venice Canals, the huge tree and elaborate Christmas decorations at the Americana Mall in Glendale, the 30 foot Christmas Tree at the Original Farmers Market, the tree, decorations and fountain in The Grove, the tree and decorations at the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica and of course the fabulous Christmas lights on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Take some time out this evening to drive around and see some of them!

Unfortunately, not all is well this Christmas in Los Angeles. We explore that in our earlier video entitled “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” that illustrates the damage being done by shutting down retail businesses just prior to the Christmas shopping season.

Kitson’s a retailer on the Posh Roberton Boulevard in Beverly Hills decided he had had enough of the hyprocrisy of our elected officials mandating us to wear mask and not do the same themselves, shutting down restaurants and ordering us not to have Thanksgiving dinner with our families.

He created a special holiday window display exposing the hyprocrisy of the people that have made our lives hell… while they themselves lived the good life.

The window display has become the talk of Los Angeles… and the world.

While we found crowds, though much smaller than normal for Christmas, at some of the typical shopping areas, others were deserted. We were stunned when we went to Rodeo Drive to see how the shopping district had gone all out to make the area inviting for Christmas… only to have no audience to see the beautiful decorations due to Governor Newsom’s Christmas stay at home order. We show the strangely beautiful emptiness of Rodeo Drive Christmas 2020 in the video below.

We all wish Christmas 2020 could be a happier time. It is difficult for those that were forced to close out their businesses or forced out of their jobs to have a Merry Christamas. But we can make the best of it. Take time to be with your family and friends. Have some fun.

Then let’s all get to work making sure 2021 is going to be a better year!
