Perhaps the most famous landmark on Venice Beach near the fishing pier was a place called “Famous Wings” or “The Wings Restaurant.”It sat right on Washington Blvd right where it met the boardwalk. With its tan stucco exterior and bright red murals of Coca-Cola bottles, bottle caps and palm trees, it couldn’t be missed.
If you thought of Venice Beach, you most likely conjured up an image of Famous Wings Restaurant in your mind. Not long after we wrote a post about this Venice landmark we learned it had been closed.
On a photoshoot with model Zeus Ley in Venice a few weeks ago I noticed the old chicken wing stand is now a pizzeria. And from the looks of it, Slice of Venice Pizza plans to be every bit as much of a Venice landmark as its predecessor! The old tan and red murals of Famous Wings pales compared to the full color murals adorning Slice of Venice.
As for how the pizza is, Zeus looks like he rather enjoyed the slice we bought as a prop during our shoot!
