This photo says it all. A homeless man with all his worldly possessions dancing in front of the permanently closed Rockwell Table and Stage in Los Feliz Village. The theatre may have gone dark, but the “entertainment” continues on the street in front of it.
Not all of the grand old theatre palaces in the Los Angeles Downtown Theatre District are on Broadway. One such example is the Mayan Theatre which is located a block west at 1038 South Hill Street, just south of Olympic.
One of the historic gems on the Broadway Theatre District is the Million Dollar Theatre. Built in 1918, it’s finely detailed architecture dates back to the period when Los Angeles was just beginning its explosive growth as the center of the film industry.
