West Hollywood Dog Park

LA dog parks

Los Angeles has a number of off leash dog parks and we will do a post soon rounding them all up.  For now we’ll tell you about the dog park in West Hollywood.

The first thing that caught my attention about this canine playground is that the grass is actually astroturf.  Yep. I thought that was odd, but according to their website, this is a specially formulated K9 artificial turf for dogs.  It’s also designed to stay cool in the sun so your dog’s paws won’t get burned.

There are two parks adjacent to the basketball courts.  The park on the east is for large dogs.  The one on the west is for small dogs.

There are a few minor regulations.  You have to keep your dogs on a leash when they are outside the fenced area and licenses and vaccinations are required.  However I didn’t notice anyone there checking dog tags.  And, of course, you have to clean up after your dog.

The West Hollywood dog park is located at 647 N San Vicente.  It’s adjacent to the West Hollywood Public Library and just south of Santa Monica Blvd.  Oh, and if you want to let your dog run free at the beach, check out our post on the Huntington Dog Beach.
